Papyrus: Online Note-Taking Device

First Sketches of Hardware 
We assume the device should also be able to provide audio to the users through both speakers and headphones, have a microphone, and be chargeable through a USB cable like the iPhone. The device will also include a camera so users may be able to take notes through the use of pictures too. The screen will be a touch screen with the ability to use any stylus along with your hands, and have multi gesture recognition for shortcuts. The device should also use materials that make it not too costly to make yet strong enough to not be extremely fragile.
Hardware Prototype 
Goal: Cater to those who liked physical notes and those who liked typing notes and note taking applications
 
Created scheme we coined “Reversible Scheme.” Users may take out the device and have full access to all the devices buttons, features, and stylus. Depending on the orientation, certain buttons will do different actions. Feature was developed to help make accessing the device even quicker and to rival the speed of taking out a notebook and pen.
 
The size of the device in 8 ½ in by 11 in, the size of a normal sheet of paper. Size of a regular notebook, but theoretically, it is a notebook that is infinitely large due to the use of memory and the cloud storage. 
 
Several buttons are included on the device for selection, shortcuts, adjusting backlights, and volume; some of the buttons may even be customized. The device itself will have a built in stand and an attachment keyboard cover, much like the Microsoft Surface.
 
One of the main points of the stylus is that it has a much finer point than other styluses to simulate actual writing and to be more precise. The device also has an eraser at the end, making erasing as quick as flipping the pen over and the stylus has several buttons for certain actions that are preset but customizable.
 
Main Screen
Side Menu
First taken to this screen when turning on the device. Default categories include Recent Notes, Unfiled Notes, and All Notes. Following this set of categories are the user’s notebooks. The user can swipe left to display the delete button and then delete the note. An alert will pop up confirming that the user wants to continue this action. Users can switch the order of their notebooks (excluding Recent, Starred, and Unfiled) by simply holding down the notebook and dragging it within the sidebar.
 
Top Menu
Users can search through all notes using keywords, dates, or tags. Right of the search bar are two buttons, “New Note”, and “New Notebook”. Users can also click the settings icon to configure device settings. This will be discussed in greater depth under the settings section.
 
Notes
Within each notebook are a set of notes that will be displayed under the top menu. These notes can be sorted by last created, last updated, and title. The user also has the option to view the set of notes in a grid view or list view. Users can select the checkbox on the top-left corner of each note (grid view) and carry out the following actions: share, delete, email, print, and export (to either Google Drive or Dropbox). Additionally users can also import notes. Each note can also be starred simply by clicking the star on the top right of each note (grid view). A title, date created, and date last modified will be displayed for each note. 
Template Store
Users will also have the option to download additional templates. We will leverage crowdsourcing to provide a rich library of templates

Setting configurations will be displayed in a modal. In the modal will be 3 basic sections: Account information, Privacy configurations, and Display configurations.
